Controller
Full Time, Permanent
Reporting to and working alongside the General Manager, the Controller will be responsible for the financial operations of the business. The Controller should be highly independent and display a great degree of problem-solving skills, reliability, and responsibility. The incumbent will work with the team responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations as well as the owners and General Manager. We have an immediate opening for the Controller position. This position is based out of our Mount Pearl location.
Responsibilities

Establish and/or maintain accounting policies and procedures

Supervise and review accounting activities such as monthly reconciliations, as well as provide direction to the accounting team (invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll)

Prepare month-end financial statements and schedules

Prepare budgets and forecasting

Provide financial analysis

Manage and oversee all monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings (HST, Corporate, Payroll, Excise Sales Tax, Workers Compensation)

Manage cash flow for multiple branches of the business

Establish funding sources and maintain banking relationships

Manage pension and investment plans
Qualifications
-
University Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting or Business Management Accounting

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or working toward a CPA designation is required

5+ years experience in an accounting or finance environment with management experience.

General accounting knowledge including capital account maintenance, general ledger, and cash accounting.

Knowledge of computer applications such as Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).

Knowledge of CDK-ADP dealership accounting software is considered an asset.

Strong income tax knowledge and skills.

Effective time management and problem-solving skills.

Highly organized and detail oriented.

Experience in the automotive/dealership industry is considered an asset.
